Dear Friendship Village of South Hills Residents, Family Members, and Team Members,
Lifespace Communities, Inc. (“Lifespace”) and Friendship Village of South Hills continue to monitor local, state, and federal recommendations for opening our community’s services and amenities. Beginning next week, the Assisted Living and Memory Care dining, beauty salon, and activities will begin to reopen.
Assisted Living & Memory Care Dining
Our dining rooms will be open for all three meals. We will be offering staggered meal times. Room service will be provided for residents that do not feel comfortable in the dining room. Tables and chairs will be placed six (6) feet apart. Extra chairs will be removed to ensure residents practice social distancing.
Team members will use all infection control measures to protect our residents and themselves. Residents are required to wear masks when going to and leaving the dining room. Prior to reopening all team members will be reeducated on proper infection control and proper use of PPE.
Room service will be provided to any resident in isolation.
Assisted Living & Memory Care Activities
Small group activities of ten or fewer residents such as fitness classes, current events, brain games, crafts, etc. will be located in the large 2nd-floor activity room or memory care multipurpose room. Resident lounge areas and outside courtyards will be utilized for small group locations. Residents will be spaced six (6) feet apart and required to wear a mask. The Lifestyle team members will provide hand sanitation. All team members will be reeducated prior to resuming activities on infection control and proper use of PPE.
Assisted Living & Memory Care Beauty Shop
Friendship Village and PS Salon & Spa have worked together to establish safety protocols for our salon services. Prior to reopening, the salon will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with EPA-recommended disinfecting products. Each evening, all hard surfaces, windows, door handles, vinyl seating, checkout terminals, and styling tools will be disinfected. Stylists providing services to residents will wear face masks and exercise proper hand hygiene as well as passing our daily screening protocols.
There will be no walk-ins accepted; appointments must be made. Appointment times will be staggered to allow for 15 minutes between appointments for cleaning. Residents must wear a mask while receiving salon services and there may be no more than one resident at a time in the salon. If a resident is presenting signs of illness, they will be asked to reschedule their appointment. The salon opening is part of a phased approach to safely reopen certain community amenities.
Future Re-Openings
As we continue to carefully monitor and evaluate all county, state, and federal activity related to this pandemic, we have started to open various areas of the community. We will evaluate the effectiveness of our safety protocols before re-opening any additional residential areas or to visitors. Our goal is to confidently open all areas of the community for everyone, but we must use an abundance of caution as we return to “the new normal” operations of our community.
If we are made aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Assisted Living & Memory Care community, these amenities will be closed immediately to protect the wellbeing of our residents and team members.
Thank you again for your continued patience and support. We are honored to serve each one of you.
Sincerely,
Bryan Welty Jessica Ciancio
Executive Director Director of Assisted Living & Memory Care
