Dear Friendship Village of South Hills Health Center Residents, Family Members, and Team Members,

Lifespace Communities, Inc. (“Lifespace”) and Friendship Village of South Hills continue to monitor local, state, and federal recommendations for opening our community’s services and amenities. Beginning the week of October 5th, the Health Center dining, beauty salon, and activities will begin to reopen.

Our dining room will be open for lunch and dinner. Due to social distancing, our dining room can accommodate up to 12 residents not requiring isolation precautions. Residents will have the option to attend lunch or dinner in the dining room. Tables and chairs will be placed six (6) feet apart and extra chairs will be removed to ensure residents practice social distancing. There will be a sanitation station in the dining room. Residents will continue to have meals served in their rooms if they wish.

Team members will use all infection control measures to protect our residents and themselves.  Residents are required to wear masks when going to and leaving the dining room. Prior to reopening all team members will be reeducated on proper infection control and proper use of PPE.

Residents in isolation precautions will continue to have their meals served in their room.

Lifestyles

Small group activities of ten or fewer residents will resume utilizing resident lounge areas and outside courtyards. Residents will be spaced six (6) feet apart and are required to wear a mask. The Lifestyle team members will provide hand sanitation. All team members will be reeducated prior to resuming activities on infection control and proper use of PPE.

Beauty Salon

Friendship Village and PS Salon & Spa have worked together to establish safety protocols for our salon services. Designated days have been established for Heath Center residents only. A representative from the Salon will call to schedule your family member’s appointment.

Prior to reopening, the salon will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with EPA-recommended disinfecting products. Each evening, all hard surfaces, windows, door handles, vinyl seating, checkout terminals, and styling tools will be disinfected. Stylists providing services to residents will wear face masks and exercise proper hand hygiene as well as passing our daily screening protocols.

There will be no walk-ins accepted; appointments must be made. Appointment times will be staggered to allow for 15 minutes between appointments for cleaning. Residents must wear a mask while receiving salon services and there may be no more than two residents at a time in the salon. If residents are presenting signs of illness, they will be asked to reschedule their appointment. The salon opening is part of a phased approach to safely reopen certain community amenities.

Future Openings

As we continue to carefully monitor and evaluate all county, state, and federal activity related to this pandemic, we are pleased to be able to have started this first phase of re-opening our Health Center. Over the next week, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our safety protocols and hope to reopen our Health Center with a structured visitation schedule for outside visitors. Our goal is to confidently open all areas of the Health Center, but we must use an abundance of caution as we return to “the new normal” operations.

If we are made aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Health Center these amenities will be closed immediately to protect the wellbeing of our residents and team members. The amenities will be closed per the federal, state, and local guidelines.

Thank you again for your continued patience and support.

Sincerely,

Bryan Welty, Executive Director

Michelle LoBello, NHA, Administrator for the Health Center
