Assisted Living and Memory Care COVID-19 Visitor Update

Lifespace Communities, Inc. (“Lifespace”) and Friendship Village of South Hills continue to monitor local, state, and federal recommendations for opening our community’s Assisted Living and Memory Care to visitors.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated their Nursing Home visitation guidance. The Department of Human Services (DHS) is strongly encouraging all Assisted Living Residences to implement this new guidance.

Effective immediately, all residents will be permitted to have indoor visitation in their private apartments during business hours. Residents will be limited to four visitors per apartment. Residents must be healthy and not in isolation to participate in a face-to-face visit.

Assisted Living and Memory Care visitors must follow and pass our screening protocols upon entering the community, including submitting to a temperature check. Visitors must review and acknowledge the guidelines for visitation during the screening process prior to visitation.  Residents and visitors are required to wear a face mask, covering their mouth and nose, for the entire visit.  Social distancing and hand hygiene are strongly encouraged. All public areas inside of the building will be closed to visitors. Visitors must remain in their loved one’s apartment during the duration of the visit.

As we continue to carefully monitor and evaluate all county, state and federal activity related to this pandemic, we have started to open various areas of the community. We will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of all our safety protocols.  In the event of an outbreak in the community, visitation will be stopped immediately.  Our goal is to confidently open all areas of the community for everyone, but we must use an abundance of caution as we return to “the new normal” operations of our community.

Thank you again for your continued patience and support.  We are honored to serve each one of you.
